- Need Home Owner’s Association approval? Not a problem! Carolina Yard Barns will help you through the process. We will review with you the HOA guidelines for your community and help you choose a shed that will meet your neighborhood’s restrictive covenants. Then we will provide you with a proposal to give to your HOA with a detailed description of how the shed will be constructed and a picture of a similar product.
- Purchasing a shed that requires a building permit? Not a problem! Generally a shed that is larger than a 12 x 12 requires a building permit in most locations. Carolina Yard Barns will guide you through the building permit process and help you obtain your building permit. We pull permits for Wake County, City of Raleigh, Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, Holly Springs, Fuquay Varina, Durham, Archers Lodge and Johnston County. Some shed companies will not allow you to put them down as the contractor, they will tell you that you are the contractor and they are just your subcontractor. In doing this they are not required to provide proof of workers compensation insurance. Carolina Yard Barns DOES NOT do this! We are your contractor and should be put on the building permit as the contractor. We will also gladly provide you with a copy of our worker’s compensation insurance and general liability insurance with you as the certificate holder. As a homeowner, you need to protect yourself and your property and should ask for copies of this coverage from anybody doing work at your home.
- Concerned that your site is not ideal for a shed? Not a problem! In most cases Carolina Yard Barns does not need to see your site ahead of time. If you are concerned that site is sloping or has too many trees just let us know. Once we have sent you a rough estimate on the cost of construction and you agree to purchase from Carolina Yard Barns we will gladly come out and assess your site. At that time, we will guide you on what we would recommend for door placement and possibly make suggestions on another location. We cannot advise on setbacks from your property line. You will need to know where your property lines are and what is required for a setback in your location and then we can help you stake out the shed.
