Carolina Yard Barns: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I place an order for my shed?

Contact us at (919) 365-5555 or sales@carolinayardbarns.com to place your order. A sales representative will contact you within 1 business day to confirm your order.

When do I pay for my shed?

We do not require a down payment on most sheds, with the exception of larger, custom sheds or special order items. Payment is due in full upon completion. If paying by check you would give that to the builder. If you prefer to pay by credit card please call us at the office when the builder arrives on site to start construction. We will put your credit card number on file and process the charges when construction is complete. Financing through Wells Fargo Outdoor Solutions is also available.

Are there any additional costs for the shed being constructed on my property?

Absolutely not! At Carolina Yard Barns we believe ALL sheds should be custom built on the homeowners site to preserve the structural integrity of the building. All of our pricing includes us coming out and building it on YOUR site. There may be additional fees if we have to carry materials in over 130ft or if there are steep hills or stairs to navigate.

How long does it take to construct my shed?

Generally, most of our standard sheds can be constructed in one day. If you are purchasing a Hardi Plank shed or a shed that is 12' wide or larger please allow 2-3 days for construction.

Do I need to be home while my shed is being built?

No. It is generally not necessary for you to be at home when the shed is constructed. We do ask that if you are not going to be home when the shed is constructed that you mark where you want the building placed and mark where you want the doors located. All of our schedule dates are tentative so we ask that you not take time off from work. We strive very hard to meet all schedule dates but sometimes weather and site conditions prevent us from hitting this target.

Do you obtain necessary permits?

It is the customer's responsibility to obtain all necessary Homeowners Association approvals. We can provide you with a proposal to help with the HOA approval process. We will pull permits for the customer in Wake County, the City of Raleigh, Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, Rolesville, Holly Springs, Fuquay Varina, Archer Lodge, Cary, Morrisville, Wake Forest, Durham, Franklin and Johnston County. It is the customer's responsibility to call in all final inspections if we did not pull the permit. Sometimes buildings cannot be built in a location that the customer would like them built due to setback requirements, easements, impervious surfaces and other issues. Click here for more information on building permits in Wake County. If you have questions about permitting give us a call and we can discuss what is required for a permit in your area.

What type of warranty do you offer?

Carolina Yard Barns come standard with a 5 year top to bottom warranty on workmanship and materials.

How far do you go to build a shed?

We generally cover the entire Triangle and a 50-mile radius from our warehouse. Delivery is free to the Triangle area, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Knightdale, Zebulon, Wendell, Selma, Apex, Holly Springs, Wilson, Rocky Mount and Smithfield.

Why should I buy from Carolina Yard Barns, LLC?

Carolina Yard Barns, LLC is a small, family-owned company. We are the oldest, locally owned site built shed company in the Triangle. We have been serving the greater Raleigh area with premium wood sheds since 2005. We strive to put customer service and satisfaction as our top priorities while still building a superior product. All of our sheds are completely stick-built and come standard with a 5-year top-to-bottom warranty.

What payment forms do you accept?

Payment can be made by cash, check, American Express, Discover, Master Card or Visa. We also have financing options available with approved credit through Wells Fargo Outdoor Solutions.

What do I need to do to prepare my site for shed construction?

We will provide enough concrete leveling blocks for sites that are about 12" inches out of level. We need at least 2' of clearance around the perimeter of your building site and an electrical outlet within 150 feet of the construction site. If you don't have an outlet available, there will be an additional generator rental charge. Our builders will carry materials up to 130 feet away from the site. If they must travel over 130 feet or over stairs, steep inclines or other terrains, there may be additional fees.

Why should I purchase from Carolina Yard Barns versus a home improvement store?

By purchasing from Carolina Yard Barns, you're receiving a high-quality building at a lower cost. Our products are far superior in quality, aesthetics and longevity than most sheds from big box retailers.

I have been told that if I purchase a building pre-assembled and delivered, I won't need a building permit. Is this true?

A pre-assembled building that is larger than 12' x 12' will require a building permit. For more information, call your local inspections and permits department.

Do you need to come and see my yard before the shed is built?

In most cases, it is not necessary to see the yard ahead of time. If your yard is a cause of concern and you are prepared to place an order with our company we will survey your site free of charge. We do not offer sales calls. It is always best for you to come to our display lot to see what we offer.

I found a picture of a shed on the internet that I want built but I can't find anything like it on your site, can you build something similar?

We offer 8 different styles of sheds. If you have found a picture on the internet and don't see something like it on our website please email the picture to us. All of our buildings are very customizable and we can most likely create the shed of your dreams.

Are your builders insured?

Definitely! We keep a copy of our builder's General Liability and Worker's Compensation policies on file.

I found a storage building cheaper on the internet, what is the difference?

We believe our products and services are unmatched. Our combined years of experience, high-quality materials and knowledge of the industry drive our sales and creates loyalty in our customer base.

What kind of doors will come on my shed?

All of our sheds come standard with a set of double doors with a 60" opening. This opening can be upgraded to a 72" opening. Explore our shed options to find more information on our door models.
